DeShano Development Corporation is a Gladwin based company, which builds single family homes, condominiums, multi-family projects and small commercial buildings within a 65 mile radius of Gladwin. DeShano Construction Company and Michigan Custom Homes are the construction subsidiaries of the corporation.
Due to the relatively broad geographic area served by the companies, independent real estate professionals are used as a sales network to promote the construction of single family homes. This system allows buyers to work with area agents who are knowledgeable about the community, its schools, neighborhoods, local services and many other factors so important to new home buyers.
Affiliation with two other companies, County Wide Builders, Inc. of Bay and Saginaw counties and Casey Builders, Inc. of Isabella and Gratiot counties brings the number of homes and condominiums built annually to approximately 100. In addition, an average of 96 apartment units are completed annually.
Company Founder & President Gary DeShano
The business office of DeShano Construction employs 24 people. The staff handles the accounting, drafting, job supervision, sales, marketing and other functions necessary to support all the companies and their various enterprises. Construction crews are staffed with many area subcontractors. The company officers are: Gary DeShano - President, Florence DeShano - Secretary/Treasurer, Scott DeShano - Vice President, Deb Larner - Chad DeShano, Asst. Secretary and Joan David, Asst. Secretary.
The DeShano Office Staff
Gary and Florence DeShano started DeShano Homes in 1966. In 1978, they moved from the Auburn area to Gladwin. The company office is located on Commerce Court, in Gladwin. It was built in 1993 and was the first of five office buildings on the court. A showroom was added during the winter of 1999. Several years ago, Gary also took the opportunity to buy out the developers interest in Sugar Springs, a planned community, located in northern Gladwin County. The company has developed a nine-hole golf course and water front condominiums on the east side the of community. Plans for future development include a mini-mall. Among Sugar Springs amenities are an existing 18 hole championship golf course, tennis courts, pool, clubhouse, airport and several waterfront parks on the two main lakes.
Land development in other parts of Gladwin County, in addition to Midland, Bay, Ogemaw and Isabella counties, remains a priority for the DeShano Companies. The company also maintains a large inventory of building sites available for purchase throughout the Mid Michigan area.
